I walked out of that room as fast as the reporters would clear. I had not only just asked my boss on a date (a strict no-no), and I had lied to her at the same time. I lied, I wasn't going to reunite with old friends, I was going to a abandoned warehouse to meet up with some other spies. Secrets and lies, the story of my life. I was going to the meeting to swap info with the others, and boyyyyyyy did I have some juicy info!
Besides info, we spies would finally get to meet each other. The U.S. had kinda sent us in blind. There was one person I really wanted to meet though: whoever the hell was in charge. I mean, someone had to be... right?
But when I walked into the warehouse... there were over fifty people there! There were that many of us! "How big of an operation is this?" I thought. Then I... I started to feel nauseous. Like I was going to puke. So instead of socializing, I stood in the corner. I never liked crowds.
A couple minutes later, some guy jumped up on a podium pushed to the back of the room. He yelled
"Why hellooooooooooooo everyone! As you all know this is our first meeting, and as you don't know: I brought the donuts! But let's get down to business... I have no info for you! Do any of you have info? Do you? Do you?!"
I looked at my watch, he said all that in five seconds, and as if on cue everyone started to look at each other. Each of them kinda expected someone to say something. Then I stood up and said:
"Sir, I have some intelligence." I tried to put on my best no nonsense voice.
"OKAY!!!! Son, come on up and take your prize!!!!" the crowd parted as I walked down there, It felt like I was god! He stepped down from the podium and I stepped up. I kinda stood there, staring at the crowd. Then, I swallowed and spoke:
"Umm... hello? Well uh... my name is Brian Bagely, and yesterday... um... well simply put: I'm the reason the president's daughter is still alive. And the president gave me a pass that would get me anywhere in the Brick House. Y'know, this country's version of the White House. He gave me it as a sign of his trust, and I believe we can use it to finally get some answers. Thank you." Everyone clapped and cheered. Not really for me, but because this meant our mission was almost over. I stepped down and the leader stepped up.
"BRIAN BAGELY, EVERYONE!!!! Son we'd give you a medal but we don't have anything! NOW!!! Does anyone else have anything to say?" No one else said anything. "OKAY THEN!!! Get out of my sight y'all! And keep on spying!!!" He walked out but everyone else stayed. Then someone got up on the podium and said:
"Everyone, I'd like a moment of piece for our fallen brother. Stan Kirby, he gave his life, for us to the truth." Everyone bowed their heads, and it stayed that way for twenty minutes. Then he continued "Stan had been posing as a army general, then his cover was blown and he died But he was one of the bravest people I ever met, thank you."
He was finished now, and then everyone shuffled out the door, silently.
