"Miss are you ready for your walk." The president and his daughter looked at each other like I had walked in on them with their pants down. Eugh, that came out wrong. They kept talking, but I couldn't hear anything. Finally Kate walked out and I followed. "What was that about?" I asked.
"What was what about."
"That look you gave your dad."
"You're is not to question why, you're is but to do and die. I believe that is what we pay you to do." she flipped her hair out of the way, kinda like she was saying she was better, then she walked ahead
Geez not only did she not like me, but she also quoted poetry at me. Why is everything so freakin' hard? Please tell me it's just a way of learning. I ran to catch up.
"Why do you even need a bodyguard? You're just walking in your manor gardens. Afraid a bug will be packing a revolver?"
"You're is not to question why..."
"Mine is but to do and die. Believe it or not I can quote poetry too. Now can you finally give me a straight answer?"
"No."
"No?"
"No. I could have you freakin' hired for talking to me like this. So if I were you I'd shut up!" She walked ahead and left me behind again. That was kinda scary. I had never heard her talk like that before. I ran to catch up again.
"What was that?"
"Have you not already asked that?"
"You kinda blew up back there. I thought you acted prim and proper and all that."
"Maybe I don't act that way around lowly workers." Ouch. I could almost hear the studio audience going "Oooooooooooo." I really needed to stop there but I didn't.
"Let's start again."
"Let us."
"Well then, I'm Brian, your butler. Is there anything you need me to do Miss...?"
"... Katherine, and I need you to do your job."
"Um... my job is for you to tell me what to do." She laughed, a small laugh but it was a laugh. It was also a start.
