INTRODUCTION
To be honest with you I wrote this story because I was bored and my cat was with me. Lets just say inspiration can come from anywhere. This has to be one of my favorite stories I've written... to say it's my favorite ever, including the stories by other authors, would be tacky.
Let's make a list of reasons why it's one of my favorites, no complex story, no tragic backstories for characters and guess what? All you know about them is their names, no world shattering events, and no superheroes, which has been populating my writings a lot lately. And Now that we've listed my reasons for loving this story, it's time for me to SHUT UP!!! Ahem, and now the story.
EXCLESIOR!!! (always wanted to say that.)
THE STORY
I woke to the feeling of being watched. As I worked my way to opening my eyes, I heard heavy breathing. I finally opened my eyes and found Lily standing over me.
"It is time for breakfast."
"*Yawn* Morning to you to Lil."
"Breakfast now."
"Get it yourself."
"Uhhhh no thumbs."
"Right. *Yawn*"
Lily jumped off the bed and ran nimbly to the kitchen and jumped on the table. She had obviously been awake for a long time. Oh yeah, one more thing that might make this make sense to you. You said you were new here. Lily's a cat.
Shocking huh? I hear where you're from animals don't talk. Where was I? Ah yes, I continued to stumble into the kitchen, put on a pot of coffee on, and checked the time. 5:30, she had let me sleep in. She started meowing or talking from the table. Sorry I can't help myself.
"Karon, I'm hungry." she said sadly.
"What do you want?"
"Tuna!"
"You always want Tuna."
"Why don't you?"
"*Sigh*" I opened the can of tuna while she paced impatiently.
I don't know animals learned to talk, but I do know that everyone is a vegetarian. Well we still eat fish, they were the only ones why couldn't talk. That probably explains the tuna.
The can opener finished it's job and I gave Lily the tuna, then went to make cereal... for me. Though I'm sure Lily wouldn't mind the milk. I sat down to eat and chat with Lily.
"So what do you have planned today?" I asked.
"Just a few business meetings."
"I'm guessing you have to go to the office."
"Yes. But I'll be back, I'm always back. MUHAHAHAHA!!!"
"I had hoped not."
"HEY! Anyway what do you have planned?"
"I have to finish some comic scripts to finish."
"For which company? Don't you freelance write now?"
"Yeah I do, and I have a script for all five companies."
"Good luck with that. Aren't you glad I'm here to earn about hmm... ninety percent of our cash."
It's my turn to "Hey!"
"Anyhow I'm gone. See ya at two." Then she finished licking the tuna can for scraps, jumped off the table and ran out the cat door. She's a good roommate... even if she eats nothing but tuna.
For the next six hours I sat and wrote, every once and a while I'd get up and, go to the bathroom, eat or drink, and watch T.V. to "Relax my mind.". Though my writing won't interest not unless you are a fan of... I don't know superheroes or manga. Currently I was writing some dragon guy Agon. So how about I tell you how Lily and I met. More interesting, huh?
To be honest with you, we were roommates in college, but we weren't really friends until the of our final years. It wasn't that we hated each other, we just didn't hit it off right away. It didn't help we had completely different majors, and only had one class together... business.
We were about to graduate and were studying for our finals. Well Lily had bitten off more than she could chew, and had too many classes, all of which she was doing well in... except business. So the night before finals I gave her my notes and she passed all her classes.
After that we became good friends and decided to continue to room together. To be honest it feels good to live with someone who doesn't want to fall in love with me. Years later she returned the favor by getting me a job. She was working at some tech support company, and to answer your question: they have a program that lets people control the computers by voice. It takes the place of a keyboard.
So I was looking for a job in comics and one of Lily's clients was Image comics. Now in fairness I had applied a week earlier, but Lily had said something to them about me and a week later BOOM! I have a job
So I sat there writing until two, when I heard the cat door slam, and Lily comes stomping in.
"Ughhhh. The people at my job are complete IDIOTS!!!" She started to, slowly, steadily, started to calm down. She, fully calm now, walked to my computer where I had thirty new files open.
"I see you have been busy."
"You know what..." I said "... why don't we sit down with big bowls of ice cream and tuna, and watch some T.V.? The tuna's for you, the ice cream for me."
"Ahhhhh." she said in disappointment.
"What?"
"I want ice cream." I roll my eyes at this.
Then we sat down and watched from 2:30 to 9:00, then we went to bed. Both knowing that we would do the whole thing again tomorrow... except maybe the guys at Lily's job won't be idiots.
EPILOGUE
So did ya like it? Did ya? Did ya? I might start a series of it. Next thing you know HOLLYWOOD HERE I COME!!! Anyway feel free to leave comments. In fact please do!
P.S. I know epilogues usually have something to do with the story, but I felt like using the space to talk some more.
P.S.S. I felt like writing this story out of no where. Which is why It isn't listed in the preview we published earlier. O.K. O.K., I'M SHUTTING UP NOW!!! JEEZE!!!
